Originally beginning May 15, pre-arrival Walt Disney World resort hotel guests and new and renewing Annual Passholders had the option to upgrade from a complimentary solid-color MagicBand to one of more than 30 new MagicBand upgrade options featuring favorite Disney characters and designs at a discounted price (compared to retail). However, this was incredibly popular and they quickly sold out – not to mention the server crashes…. The option has returned now. The available designs are ever changing. So if you’re looking for something specific, keep checking back as if it’s not there now it might be later. Here is the official wording from Disney:
“Due to the strong response for the upgradeable MagicBands, many of the Character MagicBands may no longer be available. You may continue to check back as the stock is replenished and new MagicBands are added all the time.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause your family.”
