What if I don’t want to spend a day in the park?

Hey, it happens. We’ve all been there, for one reason or another. There are a lot of amazing things happening inside the parks of Disney World. They can be exhausting too! One of the most amazing aspects of Disney World, to us, is the nearly limitless options it provides. Here is a list, in no specific order, of things that my family and friends have all enjoyed doing outside of the parks.

1.Electrical Water Pageant: This takes place nightly around the Seven Seas Lagoon and ties in with our next one.

2.Watch the Happily Ever After fireworks, or any of the shows, from outside the park. What helps make this even more special is that the music is played at the resorts too!

3.Mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf or Winter Summerland Miniature Golf courses. There is a total of four different courses, two at each, with varying degrees of difficulty and sights.

4.Ride the monorail without a specific destination. Whether it be to just enjoy the scenery or resort hop around the Seven Seas Lagoon. It is amazing what you can see from your elevated platform. There is a not-so-hidden Mickey that is best viewed from there. Let us know in the comments if you’ve seen it.

5.Visit all of the resorts on property. With over 30 resorts (and more on the way) on property this would take some time. However, it really is worth it. There are great tours at the Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodges. Not to mention the various sights you may not expect to see.

6.Go on a guided fishing excursion. This is one I can’t say I’ve personally done but a friend highly recommends it. He says that he and his kids were almost constantly pulling fish out of the water and they all had a blast!

7.Visit the Boardwalk. This is an area, that until recently, I had never really given much thought to. During a recent trip with my wife we spent some time one evening strolling through this area and just enjoying it. Everything from the Ample Hills Creamery, which if you enjoy ice cream I cannot recommend enough, to the street performers. There is a lot there to keep you entertained.

8.Dining is another thing that can keep you busy outside of the parks. Did you know there are over 300 places to get something to eat at Disney World? Everything from Signature Dining venues, many of which are outside of the parks, to the many Counter Service and even Food Truck locations at Disney Springs.

9.Disney Springs is another place that you can spend a lot of time doing any number of activities outside of the parks. There is dining, shopping, movie theater, bowling alley, entertainment, the new NBA Experience, and much more. A personal favorite is the VR experience at The Void.

10.Perhaps those are still too active for a down day. You can always spend some time at one of the Spas on property. Nothing helps you recover from or get ready for a day in the park like a massage!

This is far from an exhaustive list, just some ideas for you to ponder as you think about your next getaway. Please share any of your favorite things to do outside of the parks in the comments. We love hearing about what other people have done and enjoyer, or not, so we may provide better service.
